Supporting our online backup tools and online end point protection services, you're responsible for the daily health and welfare of the Symantec.cloud infrastructure spread around the globe. Using your specialized Windows skills, and working with your colleagues in other support offices, you will monitor and maintain the infrastructure and be responsible for escalations from the first line staff regarding customer concerns. You may also need to work with Development and QA teams to ensure that any bugs found in the software are quickly addressed to Symantec's high quality standards. | | | | Responsibilities | | • Maintenance and troubleshooting of our global hosted backup and antivirus infrastructure. • Supporting staff working in our various Data Centers around the globe on our infrastructure • Working with remote hands staff to diagnose and troubleshoot hardware problems and then addressing those problems with our vendors • Addressing escalated client issues, troubleshooting issues at a client site over the phone, or liaising with the clients' system administrator or IT management. • Participate on project delivery as part of the support team by advising the project managers and stakeholders on support requirements and ensuring proper delivery of those requirements • Support and mentor customer facing call centre staff to help broaden their knowledge and drive towards first call resolution • Document process and procedure around new technologies and current technology enhancements | | | | Qualifications | | • Strong knowledge of Windows Server platforms and desktop platforms including Active Directory. Knowledge of Clustering is an asset. • Working knowledge of Linux (SuSE) from a user and system administrator perspective is an asset. • Knowledge of SAN infrastructure/Netapp Filers is beneficial • Basic understanding of proxying technologies such as Squid and/or Microsoft ISA Server is an asset • Basic understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols and associated Cisco/Juniper hardware. Basic understanding of firewall technology and load balancing technology understanding is an asset. • Basic understanding of SNMP monitoring. Zenoss knowledge is an asset. • Familiarity with the Symantec Protection Network products is an asset (i.e SOB, SPN, SOSBE) • Microsoft MCSA or Cisco CCNA Certification, or relevant on the job experience, is highly desired. Preference will be given to candidates with both a certification and experience. • Ability to work in team settings, with both local and remote teams while stayed self-directed and maintaining an ever-changing workload. • Previous experience of working within a fast paced client/technical environment; preferably a service support environment. • The NOC functions on a 24x7x365 schedule with our UK Office. Willingness to work evenings and weekends on a rotational schedule is mandatory (no overnight shifts)
